Wireless in loco Sensor Data Collection and Applications

Sensors, both large and small, have traditionally been used for measurement and monitoring in a number of basic applications (sensing smoke, fire, or biohazards, or security etc) using fixed networking infrastructure. But networking them using wireless media gives more dynamism and power: they can now be used in remote, autonomous monitoring as well as for mobile environments. Use of wireless sensors for data collection has been proposed and studied eg., for habitat, livestock, forest and infrastructure (computing, communication and transportation) monitoring.
